Daily Meditation for May 3, 2022

Two apostles are honored today, men privileged to have known and seen Jesus pre and post-Resurrection. Like their fellow apostles and all Jesus’ disciples, they were to be witnesses to His person and His message. Psalm 19 fits well with this feast of Saints Philip and James. It tells us that, “Their message goes out through all the earth”—and their message is the glory and love of God personified in Jesus and  in their own lives. Conversing with Philip, Jesus tells him, “The Father who dwells in me is doing His works,” and, He then makes a promise: “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do so that the Father may be glorified.” Belief in Jesus and calling upon Him with love and trust makes us His followers along with the apostles—and therefore we are now heirs to that promise. We, too, can take Jesus’ message throughout the earth.
