Our Mission
We, the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn., are a monastic community of women who seek God in our daily lives according to the Gospel and the Rule of Benedict. Through our ministry of prayer, work and community living, we listen and respond to the needs of the Church and the world.
Prayer Requests
As a Benedictine monastic community, a significant part of our mission is prayer. Is there someone or something you would like us to pray for? You’re invited to share your special intentions with us. You will be remembered during our daily prayer of Liturgy of the Hours, and your request will be shared on a community bulletin board seen by the sisters every day.
It is our privilege to pray for you. God bless you!
Daily Meditation for April 19, 2024
/in Daily Meditations/by Amanda Hackett“April hath put a spirit of youth in everything” (William Shakespeare). Throughout the centuries, those of us who live in the northern hemisphere have experienced that sense of April as bringing light, new life, new beginnings. What do those images conjure up for us in 2024? Looking at the world, it seems that violence and horror abound and there’s little that individuals can do to stem the tide. However, if we look into ourselves, there is that kernel of hope which says, “There are possibilities. Change can happen.” It can. If we listen to that seed of hope planted by the Spirit and pray to fix our focus on what we can do, rather than all the things we can’t, we will find ways to make a difference. Nurture your hope, drink in the spirit of youth that April offers, and set about making God’s world a better place one small deed at a time.
