Daily Meditation for December 26, 2024

Penelope Wilcock, in her novel Brother Cyril’s Book, walks the reader through Brother Cyril’s interviews of his brother monks. One of the questions opens reflections for Advent: “What are the last words you want to say as you are dying?” Advent reminds us that Jesus came in the past. He will come through our death and then we and all creation will be caught up in glory. He comes now through our own daily events and those throughout our globe and the universe. If Jesus were to come today through your death, what would you answer to Brother Cyril’s question? How would your answer align with your life? What would your answer tell you about your perspectives, intentions, actions and contributions to God’s vision for the world? What might be a call to you to respond to Christ’s coming this Advent?
