Daily Meditation for November 11, 2024
Today is the feast of St. Martin of Tours. The story of his conversion contains an incident when he saw a beggar on a cold winter day asking for alms. Martin had no money, so he took off his cloak and with his sword cut it in half, giving half to the beggar and wrapping himself in the other half. That night he dreamed that he saw Jesus wearing the part of the cloak he had given away. This event led to his conversion. He entered a monastery but later was called to become a bishop. As bishop, he brought a commitment of peacemaking to his ministry. He was a great promoter of non-violence. Today, as we pray to St. Martin, let us ask for the grace to keep peace in our family and among our friends. Let us also pray for world peace.
