Daily Meditation for November 7, 2024

There once was a wise woman who lived on top of this proverbial high mountain. People would wait in line for days to ask her one question. One man had finally made his way to the door. When a woman greeted him, he asked, “May I see the Holy One?” The lady motioned for him to come in. They walked through a few rooms and then he was shown the back door and told to have a good day. The man was confused and said, “I’ve waited in line for days. I need to see the Holy One.” The woman replied, “I am the Holy One. When I answered the door, you treated me like a servant. You didn’t even look at me. Now you may be on your way.” The man was so focused on what he wanted, he failed to notice the presence of the Holy One right in front of him. He was looking for it in a different form, a different person, a different situation. Do I recognize the presence of Christ in each person, or am I focused only on what I want and what people can give me?
