Daily Meditation for November 1, 2024

They come in all shapes and sizes, colors and personalities. They defy stereotyping. Who are they? The saints, of course. We celebrate All Saints, no matter their origin, their skills, their charisms. It is comforting to note that there is no “one size fits all” in this collective. Some of these saints seem/are unremarkable in their time and place, others seem strange due to their unusual—sometimes disconcerting—lifestyle. But what they all have in common is an intense, deep love of God and of God’s creation. Some were miracle workers; others were quite ordinary in every way. Many are universally admired; no litany can contain them all. In this great gathering, one can surely find a fitting role model. How do we join this august company? The one sure way is to imitate their great love for God and all God’s creatures. No miracles required.
