Daily Meditation for October 10, 2024

Prior to our elections, we seem more conscious of the burden and frightening responsibility of forming our consciences, of voting our conscience and of being faithful citizens of our NATIONAL community! But the U.S. is also smack dab in the mix of a huge and troubled GLOBAL community! So, how do we choose and support our elected representatives in such a world? How do we voters evaluate policy positions, party platforms, and the candidates’ promises and actions in the light of our spiritual beliefs? How well do we know the moral and social teachings of our churches, so committed to building better world? If it is true that get the kind of leaders we deserve, we have a short time to delve deeply to form our consciences to include the common, global good as a criterion for choosing a candidate and marking our ballots.
