Daily Meditation for October 1, 2024

Hope … A broken blue robin eggshell lies in the grass. Life has been released. Mom is mixing bread dough and anticipates forming it into sweet rolls for Sunday brunch. Sarah perseveres in her research efforts envisioning an article that will share her findings. Carol is spurred on to do her physical therapy exercises aiming to develop a stronger back. Dad mows the lawn, anticipating a green haven. Don gives his time, energy and care to students expecting his efforts will help them create their and society’s fruitful future. Senator X speaks her perspective, trusting that her efforts will motivate her colleagues to work for the common good. Luther Smith says in Hope is Here: “Hope opens us to possibilities and values that help fulfill God’s dream for all creation.” Hope encourages us to continue the processes needed. It keeps our hearts focused on the dream God intends. Such are the ways of hope.
