Daily Meditation for February 23, 2024
In today’s Scripture reading by the prophet Ezekiel, we are reminded that we are responsible for our actions in the sight of God and fellow humans. Our actions do speak louder than our words, and sinful behavior must be repented. Ezekiel quotes God as saying, “If a wicked person turns away from all his sins and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live.” God adds, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked but rather that he turn from his evil ways and lives.” Clearly, God’s mercy has no bounds. No one is beyond its reach. Allowing God’s love to enfold us, we need to change our behavior. Comfortingly, we do not have a vengeful, punitive God; rather we have a God eager to forgive us if we are willing to do good and avoid evil.
