Daily Meditation for January 11, 2024
They arrived from Guatemala in May. Juan’s wife and four children had finally joined him. He had arrived two years earlier, had a job, and had rented a tiny apartment (which is in very ill repair). I met them after Mass and it was indeed chilly that day. Maria shivered in the cool breeze and asked about the weather in Minnesota. Did it get cold? Yes, but I told her we learned to dress for the weather. The smallest girl then asked about snow in Minnesota. How much? Then she spoke up, “I want to see much snow and I want to make a snow doll!” She looked forward to snow as an adventure and great creative fun, while the rest of us… My prayer at that moment was: May my single focus never inhibit the creativity, healthy enjoyment or dreams of another!
