Daily Meditation for Friday, November 10
Today is Martin Luther’s birthday, a church reformer during his lifetime. Here are some facts about Martin Luther that we can appreciate. He was a German priest, theologian, author, hymn writer and preacher. He was the main figure of the Protestant Reformation, and his theological beliefs form the basis of Lutheranism and gave all of us much to think about. Martin Luther taught that salvation and eternal life are not earned by good deeds; rather, they are received only as the free gift of God’s grace, and our faith in Jesus Christ who redeemed us from sin; a comforting thought. He translated the Bible into German, making it more accessible to the laity. His hymns influenced the singing in church even to this day. Thank you, Martin Luther.
