Bishop Neary Joins Pope Francis in Calling For Day of Prayer for Peace on October 27
In the wake of violent conflict in Israel and Palestine, Bishop Patrick Neary, bishop of the Diocese of St. Cloud, released a letter joining Pope Francis in calling for a day of fasting, penance and prayer for peace in the world on Friday, October 27. Bishop Neary invites all to attend Mass at Saint Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud at 12:05 p.m. on Friday to pray for world peace and asks all to consider making a financial contribution to Catholic Relief Services, the international relief and development agency of the U.S. Catholic Church.
Here at Saint Benedict’s Monastery, Sister Karen Rose, prioress, has invited community members to participate individually by designing the day in their own special ways, including being more mindful at Liturgy of the Hours that they are praying for the whole world, doing a random act of kindness, setting aside an extra 10–20 minutes for lectio divina, adoration or prayer, or fasting from being critical about someone or something. We invite you to join us in designing your day in a special way.
