Daily Meditation for March 2, 2023

Liz Kelly’s new book, With Christ in a Place Called Golgotha, can help us enter Lent anew. Jesus and his apostles were always on an adventure; whether receiving someone through a roof, healing that paralytic, or challenging another. We might think of ourselves as one of his frightened apostles, or we could imagine helping Simon of Cyrene carry Jesus’ cross. We could accompany Veronica to offer a cloth to Jesus or even wipe his blood-stained face. We might even imagine ourselves as Jesus, with soldiers clamping bitter thorns on our head or falling with him to the ground out of sheer weakness. Using our imaginations to place ourselves into the scenes of the journey to Golgotha can be a very helpful way of coming to know the Lord in a deeper, more personal way. We may come to be assured that all the healings sufferings or teachings are meant for us too.
