Daily Meditation for February 28, 2023

The chorus from a country western song ends with the words: “Don’t let the chain of love end with you.” The song describes how one morning, a young man stopped along a country road to change a flat tire for an older woman. The older woman, in turn, left a large tip at a small restaurant for an overworked, pregnant, young waitress, telling her that she was passing on a kind deed. The waitress went home after her shift ended to share the tip with her husband. As it turns out, he was the young man who had changed the flat tire earlier in the day. This song invites each of us to pass along a kind deed and not let the chain of love end with us. We are reminded of Jesus’ words in Matthew 7:12: “Treat others the way you would want them to treat you.”
