Daily Meditation for March 13, 2023

Today, March 13 is national Good Samaritan Day. The term “Good Samaritan” comes from the Bible parable where a Samaritan helped a stranger who had been robbed and beaten and left to die by the side of the road. The Samaritan not only cleaned the man’s wounds and clothed him, but took him to an inn where he paid for the man’s care. Good Samaritan Day is a day to recognize the unselfish actions of those who provide kindness for those in need. Often we hear  about all the relief that is offered in natural disasters or families suffering from mass shootings. There are so many good Samaritans that come forward at the time of tragedy. Very likely we have experienced Good Samaritans who have reached out to us when we faced tragedy and were helped through tough days. So, today, let’s give thanks for all the Good Samaritans surrounding us.  And perhaps we can be grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to do Good Samarian actions for others.
