Catholic Sisters Week 2023: Partnering With Laundry Love

Catholic Sisters Week (CSW), which takes place annually March 8–14, is a week that shines a light on the spirituality, mission and community building of women religious. This year, we are celebrating CSW by partnering with Laundry Love, a national organization that helps low-income families afford laundry services at partnering laundromats. In October 2022, a community partnership was established by the Central Minnesota Catholic Worker in St. Joseph, Minn.

Laundry Love is held in St. Joseph the first and third Tuesday nights of the month from 5–8 p.m. During that time, individuals and families can visit the St. Joseph Laundromat and get quarters and laundry supplies to do their laundry. Two to six individuals or families generally participate each time, and Laundry Love aims to have $110 available each session. Volunteers come from Saint John’s Campus Ministry, Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, and the Central Minnesota Catholic Worker.

We invite you to partner with us to spread some laundry love. From Sunday, March 5, through Sunday, March 19, there will be collection jars located at the reception desks of Saint Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph and Saint Scholastica Convent in St. Cloud. Our goal is to raise $500 that can be used by Laundry Love to positively impact the less fortunate in our community.

Please note: We can only accept cash on behalf of Laundry Love. If you wish to write a check, make it payable to Central Minnesota Catholic Worker.

If you would like to volunteer to help with Laundry Love, you can sign up by emailing centralmncw@gmail.com.
