Daily Meditation for February 3, 2023
A broom overlapping a heart—the Chinese character for wisdom. February, heart month, reminds me to consider matters of my heart and open to greater wisdom. What does my heart hold as important, as lovable? What might be wise to change? What am I doing to sweep debris from my memories and current daily happenings and expand my heart so I can love God and all creation more inclusively and deeply. When do I note graced moments that remind me of God’s loving presence and move me to respond to God? Reflection, prayer and changes that lead to insights and actions that open us to wise choices for all creation enable us to sweep clean our hearts and grow in wisdom. We are also invited to entrust ourselves to God’s assurance: “I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you . . .” (Ezekiel 36: 26).
