Daily Meditation for January 24, 2023
Excerpts from today’s liturgy for the Feast of St. Francis de Sales give us hints about what we can do to live in a way pleasing to God. Whether or not we are able to attend Eucharist, we can take to heart the words of the prayer at the beginning of the Mass that encourages us to follow the example of Francis de Sales by displaying the gentleness of our charity in service to our neighbor. If we are at Mass at the offering of gifts, we are invited to pray that God’s love is enkindled in a way that like St. Francis, we are enabled to love all people with his gentle love. The good news is that we can always ask God to enkindle his love within us in such a way that we can love all of God’s people as St. Francis did.
