TIME’s 2022 Person of the Year

In early December, TIME Magazine chose Volodymyr Zelensky as the Person of the Year because he has had the greatest influence in 2022. How right and just! Thank you, TIME Magazine staff!

Zelensky is truly the spirit of the Ukrainians. His ability to lead, to be with his people, to desire justice in the present, to endure because of his strong hope that touches the global human community, is truly admirable! The Ukrainian women and men, no less than their president, face death daily in union with him who said, “I have not yet finished all I can do for my country.” And with those same words, he ended his address to our Congress but a few days ago when he used such convincing words as, “This is not a war between Russia and Ukraine. It is a global war against tyranny.”

Indeed, the entire European Union (i.e. some 27 governments) acted upon Zelensky’s convictions that, “Life will win over death and light will win over darkness.” News reports and newspaper articles generally agree that these ordinary Ukrainians and their president, from the front lines, have helped rally much of the world to Ukraine’s side; indeed, the continuous applause given to President Zelensky’s speech to our Senate and House of Representatives witnessed to their bipartisan agreement to support this outstanding Person of the Year! That made my heart burst and my eyes water!
