“Teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). The 50 days spanning Easter to Pentecost are celebrated in the Catholic Church as the Great Feast: Eastertide is one long celebration of the Resurrection. Throughout this season, we marvel at the profundity of love shown by God through Christ’s dying for humanity and his rising from the dead. Eastertide is also a call to consider what it means to be a member of the Body of Christ and thus a part of the Resurrection message. As Psalm 90 reminds us, we need to see that each one of these 50 days is significant. The message of the Risen Christ is a message of love flowing freely in the world. Our part is to pray to God to give us wisdom in our hearts to discern how, day by day, we can become living examples of God’s abundant love.
