Daily Meditation for March 30, 2022

Does it seem to you that there is a great deal of noise in our world? Not the noise of workers working; but for example, the continuous talk shows and sitcoms where people tend to shout at each other instead of listening. There is so much crude and idle talk and so little listening. A wise person gives good advice. She writes: “Wisdom is the reward you get from a lifetime of listening when you would have preferred to talk.” Sometimes we pay more attention to getting our own two-cents worth in a conversation than actively listening. Maybe it would be worthwhile to consider these questions: How do wives and husbands listen to each other? How do parents listen to children and teenagers? How do we listen to elderly persons? Perhaps each of us might take the time today to listen with the ear of your heart.
