Alone at the Cottage
All the others are
over there, beyond
my view. I enter
deep into aloneness,
into my loneliness.
Awake in early darkness
I search for I know-not-what,
for peace? For an answer?
For a question? Is the presence
of God not here
even if it is only a desire?
And doesn’t God love us from birth?
What is it I seek,
invisible to the heart, mind?
While I seek alone—I discover
dying is part of this…
