Daily Meditation for February 25, 2022

“February is the shortest month, so if you’re having a miserable month, try to schedule it for February” (Lemony Snicket). In the northern hemisphere, it’s already been a long, dark winter by the time February arrives, and it’s easy to slip into a mental mode of feeling miserable and hopeless. It’s a good thing that February is the shortest month! And right there is something positive to embrace—this last month of real winter is short and carries the promise of spring. The days get longer and, if we let them, those extra minutes of sunshine can enter our soul. February is the home of Valentine’s Day, a largely secular event, yet one which reminds us of the importance of love in our lives. Let’s resolve to focus on making these final days of February a time of gratitude for love in our lives and hoping for the promise of good things to come.
