“Teen awarded prestigious national heroine award posthumously for rescuing younger relatives from turbulent waters in northern Minnesota.” Sister Jean had just read this heading in the Tribune before she came to morning prayers on Palm Sunday. As she reflected on the readings for Eucharist that Palm Sunday, she thought of the countless numbers of people Jesus had saved and wondered what national awards Jesus could have been given for all the people He saved. Before she left the chapel, she had planned her religion and art classes for that Holy Week. Not only were her seventh and eighth-grade students going to be involved in creating signs celebrating the amazing gift of salvation Jesus was blessing them with, their parents were also invited to join the “Yeay, Jesus” Contest. What would your favorite sign say? What kind of prize could be awarded?
