Daily Meditation for April 14, 2021

Seasons pass so quickly that it is easy to take them for granted. Spring arrives softly, slowly—a combination of sunshine, snowflakes, mittens and caps. Not all at once. Thus, we take time to savor the days one at a time and allow our spirit to be refreshed and nourished. How beautiful are the flights and songs of the birds; the bravery of tiny swelling buds; the rhythm and whispers of the wind in trees. All of these are reminders that we, too, are changing—now—answering the promise of new life. When we open our eyes and hearts to God’s blessing all around us, we allow a gentle swelling of gratitude grow like a seed within. A sudden bursting of wonder and joy explodes from own secret place, and we can’t help but exclaim, “Nothing is so beautiful as spring…A strain of the earth’s sweet being in the beginning—In Eden garden…” Gerard Manley Hopkins)
