Jesus appears to the disciples where they were gathered behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jews. He greets them with the words, “Peace be with you!” He then breathes on them, giving them the Holy Spirit, and then sends them out to preach to the people. Thomas was not with them and so he would not believe that Jesus had appeared to them. Jesus comes again and challenges Thomas to touch his wounds so that he will believe. Are there times when you are “a doubting Thomas?” Just as Jesus sent out the disciples, so he sends us. How do we show Jesus to the people in our family, in our parish, in our community? Can you do something special as a family this week? You may want to volunteer to help in some project, or send a card to someone who is lonely.
