It is springtime, and one of the most loveable sounds is the first song of the cardinal bird. In the morning, when the first cardinal sings its spring song, he/she starts at intervals of 10 minutes. It’s like this bird wakes up slowly. Then another half hour passes and all the cardinals of the area are in a chorus! Their song grows gradually. It is this gradual growth that seems important. This is the same way with good news or bad news, news of any sort. It starts slowly and spreads. Because this process is natural to the way news broadcasts, it is good to remember our own responsibility in spreading good. Gossip and hearsay, rumors and unfounded information is detrimental to peace. Detrimental to peace of heart on an individual basis, as well as our whole society. The more we find the news we hear to be true, the more our whole society will be at peace.
