A word has resurfaced in our vocabulary: pandemic. You may want to research what was going on in your vicinity during the pandemic of 1918. Modern medicine has progressed, and we need to follow the instructions of those who practice medicine. However, it’s the same God today as the God of 1918.
Let us invoke God’s presence to those who are suffering, to the caregivers and to those carrying on the work that needs to be done their absence. If you know someone who is suffering from the virus or is a caregiver, a good old-fashioned, handwritten, newsy letter might be a welcome distraction to their day.
Let us pray for those who feel the isolation that comes from not able to socialize, not able to have encounters beyond their safety bubbles and for those who are concerned about the well-being of the ones they love.
