To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens” – Ecclesiastes 3:1. As 2020 gives way to 2021, it’s time to reflect on the past year, be thankful for the good things we’ve harvested and take stock of the challenges in our own lives and in the world. It’s also a time to look forward, to take forward intentionally what has blessed us and to pray about those things which have caused us distress. Make a resolution not to be worn down by the negatives, but to prayerfully use them so that they become a source of spiritual growth. God is in charge and our God is a God of love. Even though things may seem dark, love is at work in us and in the world. We are called in this New Year to be beacons of God’s love and light and to become more fully a part of God’s purpose.
