Daily Meditation for December 31, 2020

As we come to the end of another year, we set our hopes and dreams on the new year ahead. Each year seems so full of precious memories of significant events, people, and perhaps life-changing experiences. In the midst of all these, the words of Psalm 90 puts it all in a wider perspective. Verse 4 states, “For a thousand years in your sight are as a single day that passes with the swiftness of sleep.” What a way to see time as God sees it. Perhaps each of us is as a single drop of rain. Each so small, so insignificant, yet as each falls to the ground it has an important effect on the ground.  The thousands of people who have gone before us and are presently sharing the universe with us–each had/has a profound effect on the life of the world. Let us open our eyes to God’s vision: “ To God, a thousand years are like a single day.”
