Daily Meditation for December 18, 2020
Once again Christmas is almost here. What significance does this day hold for each of us? Perhaps we count ourselves among the Christians of the world who listen once again to the familiar Christmas story as we try to absorb the profound mystery of love and peace spoken through the birth and life of Jesus. Or we might find ourselves among those who feel disillusioned this Christmas because of financial difficulties, ill health, or other worries, along with living in a culture that screams out the importance of buying, accumulating, and exchanging gifts which may or may not satisfy us. Or we may find ourselves exhausted, perhaps even disinterested in the meaning and significance of Christmas. Whatever we may be feeling at this time, may each of us reach out to others as well as receive what others extend to us in gestures of love, care, and concern this Christmas season.
