All summer, the vegetable and flower gardens at Saint Benedict’s Monastery produced an abundance of fresh vegetables and glorious flowers. The many raised vegetable and flower beds adorned the Saint Scholastica Convent campus and made summer strolls and sitting areas delightful. Nature truly provided beauty and bounty during these summer months. Amid the beauty and bounty, globally, COVID-19 provided overwhelming challenges and pains. However, is that perhaps an invitation to look deeply and see the bountiful blessings this situation offers? People are forced to change so many ways of doing things. And, yet it seems the importance of relationship with each other and with God take on a deeper significance. Relationships truly are the presence of beauty and bounty.
