One of the most challenging questions before us now is how to organize education in the presence of coronavirus outbreaks. But school isn’t just for the young or very young. Whatever age we are, we are all learners. There is always something new to discover, integrate and understand about our world. Saint Benedict, in the Rule he wrote over 1,500 years ago, said he was establishing a School for the Lord’s Service for those joining a monastery. Benedict’s lessons of mutual respect, listening to one another and never giving a false peace are lessons we all need to learn and practice regardless of our age, culture, work or background. Today, let us welcome the new idea, the new person, the new way of understanding that comes our way.
