As we begin to see signs of Fall, the changing of the season does not bring its usual anticipation of colorful leaves and crisp air; rather we carry with us a continued worry and fear over the uncertain future. But we can turn to our faith and prayers to sustain us—and the psalms, in particular, offer sustenance. Psalm 24 has these beautiful lines: “In you I hope all day long because of your goodness, O Lord. Remember your mercy, Lord, and the love you have shown from of old.” We may feel some days that God has abandoned us, but the psalmist reminds us to put our trust in God –who is unfailing. Especially in these trying times, with the psalmist we pray: “Do not abandon or forsake me, O God my help. O Lord, hear my voice when I call.” God– who is all love– will answer our call.
