Daily Meditation for July 13, 2020

The COVID virus is ravaging parts of the world, and universal protests for the dismantling of racist social structures are intensifying. The world is not the same as it was before the eruption of these dramatic realities. Many people ask, “Will we ever get back to ‘normal?'” Recently, someone answered that question by saying, “I hope not.” We are creating a “new normal.” What do we want it to look like? Could our world change to become a global community that is more caring and just, more noble and humane? It is a new time. Now is our chance to change, to be born again. It is our work—yours and mine. “Change,” former President Obama once reminded us, “will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
