Perhaps some you have had the opportunity to walk among the glorious Redwood trees of Central California. These trees are as tall as the Statue of Liberty. The awesome roots stretch and actually communicate or “talk” with one another. And they heal one another. A tree that is declining will reach out to others and they will send medicine and nutrients to water its root system. Yet in earlier years, the forest had been decimated by destroying at least 500 trees. These trees are over 20 centuries old. Most experts agree that California’s White Mountain Range, nicknamed Methuselah, is over 4,700 years old. Each of these glorious trees reflect its own ray of God’s infinite wisdom and goodness. There is something deeply reassuring about being in the presence of life that is so ancient. To be around these trees is like sitting with a group of the very old and wise ones in our world.
