Christmas is over. In the northern hemisphere, the days are long, dark and cold. Have you ever noticed, though, a certain peace to this time of year? Everything is quiet and still and there’s a special beauty about January sunshine, with its clear, sharp light and sparkling snow? Don’t you feel grateful on a dreary day for the warmth of your home, a good meal and good company? Maybe January calls us to meditate on things we take for granted. This is the perfect moment to think of all that we should be grateful for, like people who light up our lives or the promise of spring around the corner. It’s also a time to consider those who don’t have a warm home, enough to eat or people to love them. The year is still young so make a resolution to make a difference in the life of someone who doesn’t have it so good.
