He struggled across the hospital parking lot with a large paper shopping bag in each hand. He moved quickly as the chilly wind whipped around the pillars. He greeted everyone within hearing distance as a broad smile encircled his face. His big boots slopped through the slush and he moved forward with a determined gait. “Gotta get these bakery fresh donuts up to fifth floor as the shift changes. I want all of them up there to know how much I appreciate what they are doing for my brother…You’re all invited, too! The break room on fifth!” He disappeared through the revolving door carefully avoiding any danger to his precious cargo. No wonder experts tell us that gratitude is the fundamental element of happiness! To appreciate and acknowledge the talents, effort and good deeds of others makes of us all better people!
