In our time of so much unrest, fear, conflict and forced migration, you may not believe this statement of a neurosurgeon who uttered these powerful seven words: “We are entering the Age of Compassion.” “Did I hear correctly?” you may say to yourself. We are entering the Age of Compassion? Is he out of touch with our world? We know that our thoughts become our actions. Perhaps the repetition of those seven words could at least replace fearful thoughts…and could be the prelude to agreeing with what seemed so false. We are the ones who can help bring it into being. There are many examples of compassionate actions in our communities that we can continue or start. Lord, help all of us believe that we can, indeed, help create an Age of Compassion, in our time.
