Writer and speaker Victoria Moran observes that the old saying about opportunity only knocking once is as archaic as the flat-earth theory and as untrue. Opportunity knocks all the time—and it rings your doorbell, calls you up and sends you emails. The end of the year is a good time to think about this. When has opportunity contacted me in some way this year? And what was my reaction? Sometimes a person feels settled in life and satisfied, so doesn’t pay any attention to new opportunities. Another person might feel that it is not likely that trying something different will be successful. We might be too tired or overcommitted to notice the invitation. On the other hand, some of us are excited by new ideas, challenges and trends. We imagine what it might be like to do that. In the coming year, whenever opportunity knocks, rings, calls or emails, it deserves a good look. Something magical could happen!
