Daily Meditation for October 23, 2019

“I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date! No time to say hello-good-bye; I’m late! I’m late! I’m late!” So said the Mad Hatter in Lewis Carroll’s book, Alice in Wonderland. It’s amazing how much his sentiment fits so much of our experience today. Despite the wonders of technology, high speed internet and all the rest, many of us feel like we’re moving in a world so fast that everything becomes like the blur you experience on a merry-go-round. As you ride your little horse, spinning faster and faster, all you see around you are flashes of color and indistinct shapes—nothing is clear. It makes a person feel like it’s always too late…Too late to slow down and say “Hello.” Too late to say “Good-bye.” Getting off the merry-go-round helps me realize that it’s never too late to see things clearly. It’s never too late to listen. It’s never too late to live in the present moment. Ahhhh—that’s better…
