“Anyone can be happy when they get what they want; the challenge is to stay grateful and peaceful even when the world around you feels crazy and dangerous and horrible.” This observation is from Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the book and film Eat, Pray, Love. It is the story of a young woman whose life became troubled, leaving her deeply depressed. Eventually, she got an assignment to write about travel, so she ate her way through Italy, learned to pray at an Ashram in India and fell in love in Indonesia. This could be a hint about how to stay grateful and peaceful, even at home. Hint 1: EAT could include cooking favorite foods, trying new ethnic treats, entertaining friends. Hint 2: PRAY encourages us to take time every day to cultivate a relationship with God, perhaps make a retreat. Hint 3: LOVE by taking new people into your orbit and lavishing interest, care and companionship on those around you.
