Words matter. Words have the power to challenge and convince. Words can change thinking, change responses and certainly, words can change hearts. Today, our world is flooded with words. Conversations, meetings and speeches all use words as their primary means of communication. Over recent years, electronic communication has added another whole new dimension to our proliferation of words. This could be a good thing, but there are some problems. In our country today, we are struggling in a particular way with the use of words. The dilemma is to sort out the words that express truth from those that don’t. We have begun to mistrust words in an unprecedented way. There may be a solution for determining which words need to be expressed. Ask yourself three questions: Is what I’m going to say true? Is it kind? Is it helpful?
