“Who do you say that I am?” Jesus posed this question to his apostles and to us. How would you answer it? The reality of the humanity of Jesus may cause us to relate to Jesus in less formal and more human ways. Who is the Jesus you pray to when you are: afraid—Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane; sick—Jesus the healer of the sick and the cripples; grieving a loved one—Jesus at the tomb of Lazarus; finding it hard to pray—Jesus going away by himself to pray; struggling to accept another person—the Good Samaritan story; needing forgiveness—the Prodigal son story. Jesus, you are the Son of God! Help us to recognize you in the events of daily life. Give us courage to walk the journey with you.
