Daily Meditation for Feb. 4, 2019

The newspaper photo taken somewhere in Syria shows a woman, in a dusty, long black dress and a black headscarf, carrying her baby in one arm and dragging a small plastic bag of their belongings with the other hand. She looks utterly exhausted. Around her are crushed buildings, and cratered ground. She is all alone. Does she know which way to go to get away from the bombings…to find food for the baby and herself…to sleep in a safe place? Let’s remember the millions of suffering women and children in the warring Middle East. They live with crippling fear and know how difficult it is to stay alive when you are homeless and helpless. They have little children to care for and deeply worry about what will become of them. They need our prayers today.
