Are you an introvert or an extrovert? One characteristic of introverts is that they need to think before they utter an opinion in a discussion; extroverts need to speak forth their ideas first; then they can better understand what they think! Thus, the former seldom ask questions in group discussions; they are prone to listen; they are also, then, prone to make assumptions rather than have the courage of their counterparts to ask question until they are as clear as they can be in knowing the information. If you are an introvert, you need to learn to ask questions, to speak up, to not assume understanding while you’re still thinking! And for extroverts, what’s your way of being integral to a discussion? You may need to practice listening more to others. We need one another lest we lose the benefits of silence and likewise, the benefits of communal respect in dialogue! Would you agree?
