How are your listening skills? It can be really hard at times to hold back a comment while someone else is speaking. To tune in to the speaker’s thoughts or to keep track of the message is a challenge. It is important to respect the other person, however, and listen. If the message is important to them, good listening is necessary. Perhaps it is also good to be aware of others when speaking. Give them a chance to fill in their ideas, to add their information on the topic. We see in Scripture that Jesus asked questions, involved his listeners, gave them a chance to think and share ideas. Jesus’ example is followed when one does not dominate a conversation, gives others a chance to share and by listening to others when they have a need to share. This can be challenging. Are you open to the challenge?
