Animals remind us that friends can come in all shapes and sizes. If you share love with a cat or a dog, your return home is cause for a celebration—a wagging tail or even a little dance. The gift of a favorite toy might be dropped at your feet. There are life lessons to be learned from our furry friends: the capacity for unselfish love and the ability to be in the moment. What matters is what they are doing right now, not brooding about what happened yesterday or worrying about next week. Your cat and dog make the best of whatever the situation is. We can be like them and make today a good one. Animals are great gifts in our lives. When we get to heaven, all the cats and dogs we have loved will be saving us a place.
