The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013, at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Saint Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph, for S. Dorothy (Louise) Noll, who died on September 17, 2013, at Saint Benedict’s Senior Community Short Stay. Burial will be in the monastery cemetery. Friends may call at Saint Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud, on Friday, September 20, at 10 a.m. or for a Vigil Prayer Service at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Benedict’s Monastery. Visitation continues until the time of the funeral.

Sister Dorothy (Louise) Noll was born February 28, 1933, to Peter and Thecla (Gertken) Noll in St. Martin, Minn., where she attended District #22 elementary school. She graduated from Paynesville High School, Paynesville, Minn.

After entering Saint Benedict’s Monastery on September 12, 1958, she was received into the novitiate in June, 1959, as Sister Louise. She made her first monastic profession July 11, 1960, and perpetual monastic profession on July 11, 1963. S. Dorothy reverted to her baptismal name in 1969.

During her religious life, S. Dorothy served in a variety of ministries. At Saint Benedict’s Monastery, she was housekeeper and assistant sacristan. She was nurse’s aide at St. Raphael’s Home, St. Cloud, Minn., and at Mother of Mercy Home, Albany, Minn. At Cathedral High Convent, St. Cloud, she took care of the elderly Sisters and was housekeeper. In 1977, she returned to Saint Benedict’s Monastery where she took charge of the monastery mailroom as postal clerk. In 2008, she became supervisor of the post office, working with a team of volunteers.

S. Dorothy is survived by her Benedictine community; two sisters: Bernelda Kuhl, Cold Spring, Minn., and her twin, Dolores Petermeier, Melrose, Minn.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Alcuin, Ralph, Donald and Florian.
