The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Saint Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph, for S. Innocent Preusser, age 86, who died on February 20, 2013, at Saint Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud. Burial will be in the monastery cemetery. Friends may call at Saint Scholastica Convent on Friday, February 22, 2013, from 1-6 p.m., or for a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Saint Benedict’s Monastery. Visitation continues at 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral.

Sister Innocent (Agnes) Preusser, was born May 21, 1926, the sixth of ten children, to Arnold and Catherine (Salber) Preusser in Rockville, Minnesota. Here, she attended District #91 for grades 1-6. Grades 7 and 8 were at the parochial school in St. Joseph, Minn. She entered Saint Benedict’s Monastery on November 1, 1945, was received into the novitiate June 19, 1946, made first monastic profession July 11, 1947 and perpetual monastic profession July 11, 1950.

 Sister Innocent served in food service and as a homemaker. In 1969, she was awarded a certificate in Principles of Quantity Food Production from St. Paul Vocational Technical Institute, St. Paul, Minn. She was cook at St. John Cantius Convent and St. Peter’s Convent in St. Cloud; Ogden, Utah; Buffalo Retreat House in Buffalo, Minn.; homemaker at Hutchinson Convent and St. Mary’s Convent, Melrose, Minn. Twice, she was also baker at St. Cloud Hospital, and Food Service Supervisor at Saint Benedict’s Monastery, Assumption Nursing Home, Cold Spring and at Saint Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud. From 1990 to 2001, S. Innocent served as cook at the St. Cloud Chancery. 

In 2001, she moved to St. Peter’s Convent, St. Cloud, where she was engaged in making rosaries and undertook a ministry of prayer. She continued these ministries when, in 2008, she retired to Saint Scholastica Convent.

S. Innocent is survived by the Sisters of her Benedictine community and her brothers, August and Joseph.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Arnold, Bernard and Peter and her sisters Theresa Justin, Catherine Euteneuer, Anna Euteneuer and Margaret McCall.
